“Dyadic developmental therapist” Arthur Becker-Weidman is at it again. This time he has set up a blog that both copies and smears our new survivors’ site:

The only reason he isn’t using “stopchildtorture.wordpress.com” is because the name is already taken.
On this site, Becker-Weidman demands abuse survivors to “put up or shut up,” i.e. reveal their full details and identities to him.
He grossly disparages Kate’s survival account. He especially resents that Kate’s post was tagged with his name, even though it is clear the reason is that at that time, A Search For Survivors was under attack by him and his quack cohorts, Ronald Federici and Heather Forbes.
I think Becker-Weidman knows this, but maybe he really is that stupid.
He also calls me a liar and claims that not only are my experiences of lethal child abuse not real, but that I myself do not exist. Apparently, I’m not a person, I’m just the collective puppet creation of the members of Advocates for Children in Therapy.
No, Mr. Becker-Weidman; the only person who knits sockpuppets is you. That behavior got you banned from Wikipedia for life, remember?
(It does not cease to amaze that this is a grown man we’re dealing with, much less a child therapist and “adoption expert.”)
You’ll notice that I’ve referred to Becker-Weidman by his preferred title of “Dyadic Developmental Therapist.” These quacks take great offense to being referred to as “Attachment Therapists,” unless of course the referral from their followers and RAD cultists such as RADKid.org
Whatever — it doesn’t matter what title these quacks go by or in what style they brand themselves. Long-winded labels do not change the fact that Arthur Becker-Weidman tortures young children and makes parents watch as their child screams in agony and cries out for help until the parent vomits.

Speaking of Becker-Weidman, I discovered his Center for Family Development website, and he slams Christian conservative parenting advisor John Rosemond.

The statistics that Becker-Weidman gives (that 50%-80% of the adoptive population have attachment issues) are at least 15 years old, if not 20.
North Carolina is a really big area for attachment quackery. It also has some of the best psychologists and psychiatrists that I know of.

Granted, sexual abuse is a serious and continuing matter. It is also much more common than reactive attachment disorder. I wish they would not conflate the symptoms and muddy diagnosis.
I also wish I could play hardball and give the sucker punch to all this.
I would also like to know what Dozier means by psychopathic personality disorder. I find it to be an artifact of folk psychology more than anything else. Which is to say that it is NOT in the DSM-IV or the ICD-10. All the material available to me suggests that psychopathy is a set of behaviours, not a personality. If you are going to talk about antisocial personality disorder with criminality …

Think Becker-Weidman and Rosemond both need to be asked questions.
Posted 17 Sep 2009 at 01:50 ¶It really is despicable that licensed therapists would make malicious accusations against survivors, but hey, that’s those sicko Attachment Therapists for you. They oddly have no concerns for what their licensing boards will think when this unprofessional and unethical behavior catches up with them.
These guys just never pass up the opportunity to beat up on someone, do they? Well, beat up on anyone who is NOT paying them their big fees, that is. Fork over cash to them and voila! You’re an “Awesome Mom” who can do no wrong.
The many blogs and posts around the Internet trying to defame those who oppose Attachment Therapy/Parenting are so idiotic that no one takes them seriously. They reveal even more the twisted nature of these sadists and only verify the survivor stories.
And their harassment actually has help us sort out which ISPs and blogs hosts are worth patronizing, i.e. the ones that fight back. I guess they never anticipated that.

Actually the Ciccheti paper he cites was on a sample of maltreated rather than adopted children and 80% had disorganised attachment which is an attachment style, not a disorder. If anyone tried to correct it they were reverted by sockpuppets.

Also a fake WordPress site attacking JeanMercer and Wayward was set up in the name of Fainites. WordPress removed it as soon as I complained. Just thought you guys ought to keep an eye out.
